Yeah, I've heard that one. Lutes easily go out of tune if you use gut strings, because even a slightest change in humidity or temperature may affect these strings (especially the highest ones). But when using nylon strings it isn't that difficult. Nylon strings keep the tune equally well in classical guitars and in lutes. But still, the number of strings in the lute is quite big, so there's a lot to tune anyway...

Hey... Richard...!, thanks for your cry in my profile, curiosity brought me when I go to the library of John Mayall, to discover more blues in his discography. You've a very varied and exquisite music, and our affinity is spectacular, ooopsss...!, but the gauge is not what it seems, and how important are the people with whom we discover new styles and ideas. I wish you all the best. A big greeting from Barcelona, kisses ...!. :)))

Hi Richard loved Alex Harvey since I saw him on Old Grey Whistle Test. Went out next day and bought Impossible Dream on vinyl, still got it. There is a cd release with the Framed and Next albums on one disc which is really good. Happy listening :-)

< < Pictures show this month's birthday anniversaries

Jeff ''Skunk'' Baxter (Birthday this month - 13th December) was the lead guitarist of Steely Dan who, in their early days, sounded like....em, oh yeah - a band! For their later albums the songwriting duo of Donald Fagan and Walter Becker retreated into the studio, and never really re-emerged. Steely Dan thus evolved with a studio based sound, produced entirely by session musicians and orchestrated by songwriter Becker, and voiced by the oh-so-cynical words of lyricist Fagan. The sound became polished and slick, but at the same time bland and unexciting. My favourite albums are the first three, when Steely Dan sounded like a band, and when Baxter contributed with some great guitar work. Perhaps my favourite track featuring the work of Baxter is 'My Old School', from the 'Countdown To Ecstacy' album.
