Hmm yes, I suppose that would be a problem! Suppose depending on where you live, you could get student accomodation on college grounds? Good to see you listening to some Velvets, always nice to see in fact. I bought a Fleet Foxes yesterday. I know, I'm such a Pitchfork Media sell out.

Heh, yeah that's the problem with growing up in Celtic Tiger Ireland, we're all far too content, we need some good ol' recession to really bring us down and allow us to write truly troubled lyrics (by the by, I think writing lyrics is sooooooo difficult it's unbeleivable. It's almost literally impossible to write a song about something important in your life without it sounding really lame)

I wish I was high, actually I'm gonna get high and listen to Sigur Ros right now. Ah good, crowd were gay and pretentious as expected, ambassador is a cool venue. Looking forward to Wolf Parade?

Lol that's crazy.... you see, I'm also actually doing a little bit of Philosophy too (I normally leave it out for the same pretentious reasons you cited!) and while I have no idea what career I'd want yet, I've always thought about journalism. But yeah, you summed it up so well.... it would be lovely to just write songs :D have you tried?

Yeah, I just started in UCD, so only did the Leaving last June myself! I'm studying English, History and Classical Studies.... so hopefully that won't make me really pretentious, but able to tryr and write good lyrics like Dylan, Cohen, Young etc. :D

Lol yeah, I know what you mean. I like finding people who apprecciate lyrics. I mean, I belive the vocal melody is probably more impoirant but its all good! As I say, lyrics can't make a bad song good, but can make a good song great! So, what are you up to? Doing the dreaded LC?

Probably cos your listening to more Death Cab, Radiohead & Sigur ros lately? I don't think we have a high compatability to be honest but Last Fm does not lie.

Well, I see you have 6 Neutral Milk Hotel listens, so I'm wondering if you only have a few songs by them? Tags I'm seeing associated with Okkervil River on the internet (Profound lyrics, lo-fi indie etc) seem to exactly match NMH too, so if you've just sampled them, you owe it to yourself to get In The Aeroplane Over The Sea! Besides that, I dunno if it's your style, but you have some of the great singer-songwriters in your top ten (Dylan, Young, Black) but I see no mention of Leonard Cohen! Clearly you enjoy lyrics as much as I do, and Cohen is up there with some of the best I've ever heard. His style changs drastically but his debut The Songs of Leonard Cohen is the epitomy of poetry set to music, so I'd check that out. Also, his album I'm Your Man is really 80's, like a lot of synths and stuff but still backed up with some awesome songwriting. So I highly recommend those two. I can almost guarantee that "The Songs of..." will change the way you think about lyrics used in music.
