  • WELL DONE, LAST.FM

    17 Sep 2008, 20:45

Good work, Last.fm, now you show my player - I wonder how much time do you need to show what I have in my fridge, the colour of my sheets..? Have you asked me if I don't mind that you show what I use?

    Some of the other things...

I really think we lost some features that made the communication between the users so good - the social element of having people selected by taste with whom you can communicate. I really want to see my neightbours in my profile page (this was really important) so that also the others can see my neightbours more easily (a lot more connecting)

Also - this white (blank) space in the new design is like making all profiles look more impersonal (your avatar and charts are like fading into it). In one page now the main focus of the visitor's eyes is on the library (because of the huge pictures there). I think it is more important to focus on the "currently listened tracks" chart (now the letter size is really little) also - on the avatar. And considering so much horizontal blank space - why for God's sake the shoutbox should be at the bottom of the page?

Trying to forget the bitterness around the things behind the architecture (that we know pretty well) I really feel annoyed by this peeping (big brother thing) the recent history - I mean - we know we're watched over for market purposes - should it be like we're watching ourselves? Why I cannot delete my own history? Please get it out of here!

I can say that'd really enjoy staying "on board" but now I'm so much disappointed ( I continue to be). I liked the principle here - the fact that you have control on your information and no feedback is going to help researches and bla-la-la. Is everything business in one and the same way all the time and everywhere in our world?.. I'm sick of seeing one and the same thing around and around.

I hope that we can have our site better without all these disadvantages right now.
I have to say that I just won't accept it like that (it's like a conclusion)
  • Nicholas E. Cave Telling Greek Myths

Fri 6 Jun – Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds

It was just around 5 o'clock when some of my friends started to prepare to shoot themslves and get themsleves closer to the Moni Lazariston area where you can go catching bus 27 from Platia Aristotelous in the direction of Afeteria (not the opposite!) I had all that written down. It felt like this fucking Theseus and this little yellow note was Ariadna'a knot. So after some confusion and after some drinks my different parts found each other ( it was the Minotaurus effect) and we tried to really find the place.

The Place (we have to refer this way to this blessed land) was actually closed because believe it or not it was like 6.30 p.m. almost an hour or something before the Event. So we saw some small groups of people wandering around, stuffed their pistols deep inside their belts and the sky was... blue. The guys from the security actually told us that it was a bit but too early to get inside the area. And there had to be a supporting band which was not announced but close to mind of course. What was this band nobody knew, however some of us tried to get this secret out. I myself felt a enourmous outburst of hunger which, like each absence, is not a good thing and moves you to unknown direction in order to fill this emptiness up. So I and my boyfriend went to get a good dinner (whatever people say greek cuisine is poor! i hope greek people will not feel sour by this confession) and Thank God we were about to get some beer because the poor stuff always goes fine with good beer so we were the ones once again and I'm alive to tell this to you.

And it was time, so when we went back to The Place it was Night, we could clearly see it, and we got inside understanding that we had missed the supporting band and the concert was about to start. I was very happy 'cause without any harm to my dress I went right before the stage, maybe there were only 2,3 rows of peope right in front of me. But I was indeed in the left part not exactly into the centre. Mick Harvey was sitting in front of me as I saw some minutes after. And the concert stared. I don't remember at all what these people was wearing (some fans do, My God) so it was all enthusiasm reaching the edge of the good reason from this moment on. We started (like many other do) with the most expected songs (at least those which I had seen in setlists before) Night of the Lotus Eaters was the opening track, Dig Lazarus Dig!!!, Today's Lesson and Moonland. After it I lost the knot and I only remember what were the songs but the order is impossible to be said. We had also one very powerful performance of We Call Upon the Author and with this the new album session finished. It was a bit sad that we didn't hear songs like Hold on to Yourself or Jesus on the Moon, but that's why you have that stupid cd at home, right?

It was outstanding because the essential part of the concert was the emphasis on the good old work, with amazing stuff like Tupelo, extreme performance of The Red Right Hand, Get Ready for Love, The Mercy Seat, Deanna, I Let Love In, and the devastating Papa Won't Leave You, Henry which was about to trick us that it's the end of the concert. Haha! There were some minutes in aplodisments so The Bad Seeds came along the stage so did Nick. And it started all over again. Here maybe I could have slight vagueness (the truth is that I have poor memory) - maybe actually Deanna was in this part or?? Whatever, we continued with songs like Straight to you, The Ship Song, Your Funeral My Trial which I considered as an answer to prayers. And the public started to order things... (it felt like in greek tavern) and our corner behaved inadequately because of some weird people screaming "Nicholas" but actually we were heard and we got the most unique performance of The Weeping Song (i don't see it elsewhere in youtube and it's bad because it was extraordinary, Nick, you're not intending to record this, right...) so the very last thing was about to be The Lyre of Orpheus (very clever, huh) and the public tried to sing out Oh, Mamma! but not very succsessful in rhythmical point of view. Whatever, it was perfect! we had a last present - 7 minutes felt like 7 years during the latest song... and it endend. Mick Harvey showed his clock, we got it.

It was splendid. We'll meet again in a couple of years. Do you have some other good ideas for nice concerts that have to fill this pause with some reasons for living till the next time. Waiting for your recommendations. Take care! Goodbye!

    The Love Thieves
    by Depeche Mode

    PlayThe Love Thieves

Oh the tears that you weep
    for the poor tortured souls
    who fall at your feet
    with their love begging bowls
all the clerks and the tailors
    the sharks and the sailors
    all good at their trades
    but they'll always be failures

    Alms for the poor
    for the wretched disciples
and the love that they swore
with their hearts on the Bible
    beseeching the honour
    to sit at your table
    and feast on your holiness
    as long as they're able

    Love needs its martyrs
    needs its sacrifices
    they live for your beauty
    and pay for their vices
love will be the death of
    my lonely soul brothers

but their spirit shall live on in
    the hearts of all lovers

    You're holding court
with your lips and your smile
    your body's a halo
    their minds are on trial
    sure as Adam is Eve
    sure as Jonah turned whaler
    they're crooked love thieves
    and you are their jailor

    Love needs its martyrs
    needs its sacrifices
    they live for your beauty
    and pay for their vices
love will be the death of
    my lonely soul brothers

but their spirit shall live on in
    the hearts of all lovers.

    WHERE THE SOUL IS?
    In:

    the brain?
    the heart?
    the
    stomach?
    the eyes?
    the blood?
    the whole body?

    PlayNew Dawn Fades

A change of speed, a change of style.
A change of scene, with no regrets,
A chance to watch, admire the distance,
    Still occupied, though you forget.
    Different colours, different shades,
    Over each mistakes were made.
    I took the blame.
    Directionless so plain to see,
A loaded gun won't set you free.
    So you say.

We'll share a drink and step outside,
An angry voice and one who cried,
we'll give you everything and more,
The strains too much, can't take much more.
Oh, I've walked on water, run through fire,
Can't seem to feel it anymore.

It was me, waiting for me,
    Hoping for something more,
Me, seeing me this time, hoping for something else.
