Im Moment durchforste ich die letzten Jahre nach feiner Musik, die ich in meiner "Catching the next big thing"-Mentalität sträflicherweise übersehen habe. Und mir fällt auf, dass viele der übersehenen Rohdiamanten verdächtig oft aus dem hohen Norden kommen, aus Skandinavien, in der Regel aus Schweden. Denen gebührt dieser Eintrag.

Zu allererst fällt einem bei Skandinavien natürlich
Mando Diao ein. Nachdem die sich jedoch mit den Songs vier bis elf ihres letzten, vierten, viel zu schnell auf den Markt geworfenen Albums selbst diskreditiert haben, darf man getrost nach Alternativen suchen.

Und siehe da, es gibt sie. En Masse. Gleich in Schweden. Kent zum Beispiel. Schwedens derzeit erfolgreichste Band haben mittlerweile sieben Alben auf dem Buckel und ich versuche gerade, mich dort so durchzuhören und bin auf viel Gutes gestoßen, und auf manches sehr Gutes. "Min Värld" zum Beispiel, unverdientermaßen nur auf der derzeitigen Single "Ingenting" verfügbar. Die markante Stimme des Lead-Sängers, dazu die teilweise schon ins hymnenartige abgleitenden Rock-/Pop-Songs (der Übergang ist in der Regel fließend) mit Melodien, nach denen sich andere Bands sehnen. Meistens zumindest, wirkliche Ausfälle hab ich noch keine entdeckt.

Diese gibt es bei Kings of Convenience schon, denn ihr "Simon & Garfunkel"-Gesang kann einem manchmal ganz schön auf die Eier gehen, vor allem, wenn die Songs zu sehr auf Gesang und Akustik-Gitarre reduziert werden und die Melodien fehlen. Da dies aber eher selten vorkommt, spreche ich dieser Band uneingeschränkt Sympathiepunkte aus und möchte sie wärmstens empfehlen, auch wenn sie an dieser Stelle gar nicht reinpassen, weil sie aus Norwegen kommen.

The Perishers. Nochmal Schweden. Diese Melodien. Diese Stimme. Diese Trägheit, diese Schwere, diese Schwerelosigkeit, dieses Alles.

Und noch einmal Schweden, eloquenter. Meine nordische Lieblingsband neben Kent, deren Konzert in Dresden aus dem 2008er Januar noch einen einigermaßen erträglichen Monat macht - die Shout Out Louds. Ich möchte einmal wissen, woher dieser Sänger diese Stimme nimmt und woher die Frechheit, die Songs mit einer solchen Zerbrechlichkeit, Leidenschaft und Hingabe zu singen, dass es einen mitreißt, einen zu Boden wirft und man erst wieder aufstehen kann, wenn alle Songs mindestens eine halbe Stunde verklungen sind. Und ich habe die Vermutung, dass irgendwo in der Nähe Stockholms ein Haus mit einem Zimmer mit einem Schreibtisch mit einer Schublade existiert, in dem ein ganzer Stapel Songideen reift, bei denen sich die "Shout Out Louds" gedacht haben, damit wollen sie die Welt verbessern und uns eines besseren belehren, die, die meinen, schon alles gesehen und gehört zu haben. Ich hoffe, der Stapel ist noch von beträchtlicher Größe...

Es gibt noch eine ganze Menge weiterer Musikgrößen, die ich gerne hier festbinden möchte, damit Deutschland sagen kann, auch wir haben was zu bieten. Ist natürlich Schwachsinn, auch wir haben gute Musiker (nur keinen Musiksender, keine Musikradios und keine musikalische Jugend...). Aber gegen The Hives, The Raveonettes, Johnossi, Saybia, Sugarplum Fairy, Peter Bjorn and John, The Crash, Eskobar, the Electric pop group, Caesars und wie sie alle heißen ist es nur schwer, anzukommen. Vor allem, wenn man bedenkt, dass in ganz Skandinavien etwa ein drittel der Population wohnt, die Deutschland sein Eigen nennt.

Sollte ich eines Tages mal auswandern, dann wird es - ohne Frage - Schweden, Norwegen oder Dänemark sein und jeder, der die dortige Musiklandschaft kennt, wird wissen, warum...
