“TELEKINESIS” was a Kanye West track originally written by Victory Boyd as a gospel song, tentatively titled “Future Sounds,” — recorded during sessions for Ye’s Donda. The original title was supposed to be “Future Bounce”; however, it changed to “Future Sounds”, then later “Ultrasounds”.
After being passed around many artists, it eventually ended up being a Travis song. “TELEKINESIS” would be heavily reworked to feature Future and SZA, where they create a soundscape that is magical, like telekinesis.
Telekinesis is a reference to the supposed ability to move objects via one’s mind. It is often fictionally portrayed in superhero films and comics, which Travis has a liking to, even dressing as his favorites on multiple occasions as Batman and Iron Man.
“TELEKINESIS“ debuted at #26 on the Billboard Hot 100 during the chart week ending of August 12, 2023. The song also debuted at #15 on the Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart.
