“They’re heading west” is three singer-songwriters and a very elegant drummer. Singing and playing the guitar are João Correia, of Julie & The Carjackers, who writes beautiful and complex beatlesque melodies, and Francisca Cortesão, Minta of Minta & The Brook Trout, whose songwriting owes as much to The Beatles as it does the north-American songwriters of this last turn of the century. And there’s Mariana Ricardo, who writes irresistible three chord songs and plays the ukulele. Sérgio Nascimento drums expertly through it. They all enjoy playing each other’s music immensely.
