Indie follow-up 12'' single that followed the much sort after but hard to get hold of ''She's gone'' by the Train Set. Based in Manchester but originally from Crewe in Cheshire. Hold on was out about the same time that The Train Set toured with The Happy Mondays on their 'Bummed Tour'. The singles were out on Play Hard records run by the Hacienda's Dave Haslam and Mondays manager Nathan Mcgough.

In the mid-80s The Train Set emerged from the Crewe/Winsford indie music scene and started to make an impact on the Manchester and Liverpool gig circuit as well as the national music press. School friends Clive Jones (vocals), Andy Boote (guitars) and Mark Shaw (Bass) formed the nucleus of the band. They recruited Adam Halford (drums) from Winsford and Dave Hassall from Chester (keyboards). They were signed by renowned Manchester DJ Dave Haslam’s Playhard label and released two 12” singles.
