"gold rush", the third song on "evermore", is a song depicting the jealousy she has because she is attracted to someone who everyone adores. Because of this, she has to force herself to stop picturing her life with them. Swift mentions the beauty of the subject and the admiration they receive from all those around them, and lets herself drift off into a false reality. She sings about the daydreams of the life they would have together, and in the second half of the song she snaps herself out of it for her own good.
