The band started out under the name Holden, and changed shortly after due to another band with the same name from California who sued them. Their self-titled album was released in 2005, which was recorded in a garage at a cost of $500. Sydney developed a huge fanbase in the Southern Ontario independent music scene before being signed to Black Box Recordings.
