“Her” is a simple love song from Michael Gira to Jarboe, split in two halves by a brief, but harsh breakdown. Gira and Jarboe had been collaborating for years at this point, and a relationship had bloomed between the two, which is why this song was formed. The second half of the song uses a cassette recording taken by Jarboe’s father, an FBI agent who recorded her phone conversations without her knowledge. More cassette recordings belonging to her father of unknown people and origin were used throughout 1996’s Soundtracks For The Blind.
