Super 45, a 1991 EP, was the first release by Stereolab. It was issued on 10" vinyl and limited to approximately 800 copies. It was sold at concerts, via mail order, and at the Rough Trade record store in London. All four tracks were later included on Switched On.

Stereolab are a UK-based band whose style, mixing 1950s–1960s pop and lounge music with the “motorik” beat of krautrock, was one of the first to which the term “post-rock” was applied.
