Her debut is one of my favorite albums of all-time; beautiful and UNpretentious. https://wavyair.blogspot.com/2020/07/soap-lovetune-for-vacuum-review.html?view=classic

been following her for a decade and seen her many times over the years... last night's tour opening show was as different as the new record is. never thought I'd see the day when she wouldn't play marche funébre, the sun, thanatos, brother of sleep,... she's also much more confident now. what a great show, falling on the venue organ (again) was unreal.

I couldn‘t agree more :) Saw her too last night, and it was wildly different compared to the last time she played the Konzerthaus. Even tho I did miss those old songs a little bit, it was truly a perfect evening. I think it really shows how much she loves the new songs and that makes me so happy (I also still can‘t believe I saw her with an electric guitar, WOW). She‘s a dream.

Oh, I miss them too, I like the new album a lot, but the dark, angsty stuff is still my favorite (the super old songs on the new record she wrote ages ago are the highlights for me - Surrounded, Falling, Creep,...). I'm seeing her again at the Arena in the fall (and am entertaining the idea of going to Graz in June), and I wonder if she'll pull more of the older songs out then - different vibe in that venue, definitely, and with it being a standing gig, the more "upbeat" older catalog is probably more suited. Can't really imagine seeing the same gig again but on my feet, anyway!

The Arena is my favorite venue in Vienna, the first time I saw her live was there - in the Halle though. It's definitely very different, and I haven't seen her at a general admission gig since - that was the Narrow CD release concert. We'll see - ticket is already safe with me ;)

went there as well and albeit it was my first live experience from her it was a blast to see her pull so many different instruments and executing an amazing show - the lightning and pure BLAST of emotions at "Vater" was just incredible and I almost cried when it all came so sudden - and I am so, so, SO glad she played "Safe With Me"

I can't believe the album is actually here after almost seven years of patiently waiting. Her first two, particularly "Narrow", I hold so dear. They were records that (cliche to say, I realize) changed my life. Her music came at a time when I needed it, and songs like "Wonder" I breathed through for a while. This new record is beautiful and the overall "lighter", more hopeful tone of the music is something i'm happy to see, as much as I related at the time to the darkness, ferociousness and melancholy of her earlier work. I don't think Anja will ever lose those elements. They're still there (strong as ever at points), but songs like "Heal", "Safe With Me" and her "What A Wonderful World" cover are tender in the way they touch. "Surrounded" though has got to be the highlight here. That and the achingly beautiful opener "This Day" (broke my heart from the opening notes). In short, what a record! So worth the wait. Soap&Skin is a one of a kind artist. We're so lucky to have her.

"Gnas, Steiermark, Austria (1990 – present)" Cool to know that Anja's been making music since she was in the womb.
