The Day The "Conducator" Died (An Xmas Song) is the ninth and last track on Scott Walker’s fourteenth studio album Bish Bosch, making it the track that closes his dark trilogy (Tilt, The Drift, Bish Bosch). The song is about when Nicolae Ceaucescu and his wife Elena, on December 25th 1989, were sentenced to death for charges ranging from genocide to the illegal gathering of wealth. After a brief show trial, they were taken outside the building with their hands tied behind their back and led outside to be killed… and nobody waited for fire.
