His band Heldon fused electronics and rock to create a pioneering, aggressive music. Active since 1979, Masami Akita, aka Merzbow, is considered the originator of Japanese noise music. He has recorded and released nearly 100 CDs andhas been called "…the most important artist in noise music" by the All Music Guide.
