In the summer of 1971, Ralfi Pagan’s Latin soul cover of the song reached #32 on the Billboard R&B Chart and sold 250,000 copies. He also performed the song on the 9th episode of Soul Train, one of the first Latin artists to appear on the show. Later on, this version was featured on the seventh East Side Story compilation.
