as a kid in the early 2000s, the one thing i remembered about pete & pete was its amazing theme song. i wanted to hear it again, and that was no simple task back then, so i bought this album and ripped it into itunes. strangely enough i must have felt like the only other good song was “saturnine,” because i kept those two and quickly deleted the rest. now i’m watching pete & pete in earnest for the first time, excited to dive into this record again and see how i feel now

Amazing album that just happens to be the soundtrack to a hit Nickelodeon kids show. Every fan of 80s/90s college rock should own this

Excellent songs and craftsmanship. I was floored by my first listening to "She Is Staggering." It captures how I feel about my wife, a woman who forges her own path: She's uncommonly heavenly. She is so rare. She's beautiful, Exceptional, But she doesn't care.

Back to the album, it brings back so many memories and like someone said down in the comments...it really isn't possible to listen to this and not be happy. Just a real feel good album :)

Raforther, that really is an interesting take on the show but I really don't think the base of the show was that in-depth. Believe me I love that show as much as the next kid that grew up in this 90s generation of Nickelodeon shows, but they were just brothers, nothing more.

Artie is actually Pete's imaginary friend that Little Pete eventually has to say goodbye to; the fact that both Pete's see him confirms that they are indeed the same person. Each episode shows Little Pete taking on some aspect of childhood, living the simple life of a kid as Big Pete tries to come to terms with his coming of age. The two are constantly at odds as Big Pete tries to grow up while Little Pete fights with Big Pete trying to keep him on the same level of childhood that he sees the world in.

From a post on /tv/: You are now aware that Big Pete and Little Pete were actually the same person. The show is about a boy struggling to come to terms with adolescence and growing out of childhood. His personality traits are split into two people, Little Pete, who represents his childhood, and Big Pete, who represents growing up. Throughout each episode, Big Pete articulately and rationally narrates the world of the show as seen through the eyes of Little Pete, who's imagination is represented by the surreal elements of the show (moms plate picking up radio stations, the ice cream man). Little Pete doesn't want to grow up, and he has his own idealized yet innocent vision of what it means to be an adult, as represented by his independence, and the tattoo's on his arms and shoulder, which are actually imaginary.
