Pip John is the vocal alter ego of classically trained opera singer Oliver Sewell. He studied music at the University of Canterbury, majoring in Classical performance voice. Oliver started playing with looping software in his teens and has been experimenting in bands and other side projects throughout his study. Initially Pip John was a downtime project to fill in the gap between classical singing jobs. He creates ambient soundscapes layering his voice with made or found samples. In 2012 Sewell released two EP’s (‘Dualism’ and ‘Thomas & I’).
