Recording under the names Silence and Escape, Pete Namlook and Dr. Atmo worked together for only a short period but nonetheless managed to create some of the most enduring works in the FAX catalogue.

While their first release was the hard trance single Escape in November 1992, it was Silence released a month later that made waves. Silence was the first album released on Namlook's FAX label, and presented a fully formed vision of ambient that would serve as a blueprint for FAX in years to come - meditative, at times spiritual pieces up to 20 minutes in length that combined the ambient fascination of the 90s with Middle Eastern influences. Silence remains highly celebrated, and has a well-earned reputation as one of FAX's best albums; it was more recently remastered and rereleased on vinyl for its 30th anniversary.

The Namlook-Atmo alliance remained fruitful through 1993 and 1994. Silence II, released in May 1993, was in high enough demand that it was rereleased the following year on FAX's nascent reissue label Ambient World; meanwhile, the singles Escape 2, 3 and 4 continued along the hard trance path, later compiled into an Escape compilation in 1994 together with a new ambient work simply known as "The Futurescape". This would turn out to be the last Namlook/Atmo collaboration, and when Silence returned in 1998 with Silence III it was a Namlook solo project.
