Paul Abro was born in Cape Town. He is the youngest of a medical and musically influenced family. At the age of six, Paul began taking guitar lessons. After two years of classical training, he turned his attention towards songwriting. Abro played in several bands throughout his youth. At the age of 17, he took a break from music in order to focus on a university degree. He completed his studies in the US. After 10 years in Philadelphia, he returned home to Cape Town.
