There's a growing consensus that Tammi was actually too ill to record this and most of the tracks that were on the 'Easy' album, and that it's actually Valerie Simpson 'impersonating' her here. And to rub salt into the wound the single was released the day of Tammi's funeral. It's because of this that Marvin refused to perform live OR release new material in 1970, and provides a background to his feelings when he came to record, 'What's Going On' in 1971.
