This song is off of Lupe Fiasco’s long awaited album Lasers. This song is about his record label holding back on his album release and how they kept trying to change his image and how he felt terrible for forgetting who he is. In a 2021 tweet—ten years after Lasers—Lupe disclosed that he wanted Kid Cudi on the song’s chorus. He went on to reveal that the two were actually even in the studio together; however, Cudi intended to change the chorus and “laid what he wanted but it wasn’t the same so it kinda was a nothing burger and we just left it as is.” It would have been their first collab.
