“racehorse: get married!” depicts and marriage and lust between the narrator and their now spouse.
Although the track expresses happiness characteristic of a marriage, there is a clear sense of confusion throughout the song, both of the couple’s love and their roles within the relationship. The first hints of the narrator’s spouse’s gender dysphoria can be seen in the latter part of the song, which is further developed upon later in the album.
This song also explores the differences between the heteronormative societal expectations of marriage and queer love and marriages, highlighting the differences between the two.
