Joe Jack Wagner is a non-touring self-made band whose eclectic music covers a wide range of genres including (but not limited to) electroacoustic, french pop, progressive, folk, rock, spaghetti western and slacker punk.
ORIGINS
The band was formed in Victoriaville (Quebec), Canada in 1997 while vocalist David Leblanc (who also plays guitar, saxophone and percussions), and former guitarist Charles Barabé (who also played bass, keyboards and percussions) were finishing high school. The project was then named LAYOR (for Listen At Your Own Risk) and was only renamed Joe Jack Wagner in 2004.
DEBUT ALBUM
Their first full-length album, The Only Non-Classical Album You’ll Ever Need (Recorded 2004-2005), was lauched as a self-released CD (along with digital format distribution) on May 7, 2007. The title ironically mimics the overused marketing formula “The only album you’ll ever need”. The band’s consequent “world tour” both started and ended on the humble stage of a small Montreal bar on July 1, 2007, and the debut album peaked at #2 on CISM’s Top 30 on October 12, 2007, ending up at a surprising #4 in Melopia.ca’s top albums of 2007.
HIGH ON LO-FI
Their latest full-lenght album, High on Lo-Fi (Recorded 2006-2007), is a darker and more experimental effort only available on digital format. It was first released on November 2, 2007, and Charles decided to move on to other projects shortly afterwards. David released his own final cut of the album on July 20, 2008.

J'ai regardé les vidéos, d'ailleurs j'ai voté pour mes chansons préférés. La musique est très bien, mais j'ai trouvé les vidéos très mauvais. Je ne dis pas ça pour être méchant, mais tout simplement parce que je trouve dommage que les vidéos ne reflètent pas mieux la musique. Ils ne donnent pas tellement le goût d'écouter la musique de votre groupe. Ca n'a pas l'air sérieux, pour ne pas dire complètement amateur. Dans le vidéo où le guitariste chante une chanson tout seul, le fondu au milieu de la chanson donne tout simplement l'impression qu'il n'est pas capable de la jouer au complet sans se tromper. Ça ne donne pas le goût d'acheter votre disque. Je la dis comme un conseil, parce que j'acheterai peut-être un de vos cd la semaine prochaine. Je vais passer quelques jours à Montyréal et j'ai vu que vous vendiez des cd à l'oblique. Je vais y aller. Et je vous donnerez mes impressions.
