Largely influenced by major French "varietes" stars such as Claude Francois, Johnny Halliday and Daniel Balavoine, Jean-Pierre soon developed his own style which he defines himself as both comic and artful. He became popular in the mid-90s mostly thanks to radio host Max who offered him extensive broadcasting of his songs on Fun Radio.
