Jean-François Coen was born in 1959 in Oran. Arrived in Paris in 1965, he will study classical guitar with Ramon de Herrera in the local conservatory. In 1978, he joins as bass player, the band Modern Guy and they will record in 1979 an album produced by John Cale, before parting in 1981. From 1982 till 1990 he stays outside the disc industry , except from the collaborations as bass player on the first album of Juliette et les Indépendants , and the first album of Mirwais.
