second show ever: chris pureka & jay brannan
14 Jul 2008, 02:28 by pulloverpanda
Fri 11 Jul – Jay Brannan, Chris Pureka
Okay, so this was my SECOND ever live show experience, and it was awesome, once again :] Totally different experience, but loved it nonetheless.
This time the venue was The Paradise Rock Lounge in Boston, which is way small compared to the Palladium Theatre. The atmosphere is more chilled out, not as big or young a crowd, since it was an 18+ event.
I went with my exboyfriend Chris and his friend April, they had an extra ticket, and once I found someone to cover my shift, I hopped on board.
We arrived about 30 minutes before doors, but stopped by the Shaws down the street (they had Lunchables hahaha). We ate on the loading ramp of the Planned Parenthood building hahaha, I kept joking about how we were probably gonna be blown to smithereens any second by some religious fanatic.
Anyways...on to the performances
Chris Pureka was up first, and played for about an hour. She was great, I liked her voice and lesbian folk music, classic melancholy "my girlfriend is awesome...but something got fucked up, and now I'm gonna sing about it" sorta stuff. A little monotonous, but a worthy opening act :]
During intermission we went to the merchandise table and I bought Jay's album, since it's not available in stores, just through iTunes and mail orders. I also bought Chris a copy, cuz I'm a good guy like that lol It was 15 bucks. I almost bought a tour tee (with "Fat isn't a shape...It's a feeling" on the front) but the color (brown) was ugly.
Next up was the main event, Jay Brannan. Honestly, it was fantastic!! Once again, I picked the right show to see, he was pitch-perfect and had funny banter inbetween hahaha, seriously, his bits inbetween songs was just as good as his performances! Also, there were a few nice treats, the best was his cover of "Both Hands" by Ani DiFranco. He also did a cover or Nina Gordon's cover of "Straight Outta Compton" hahaha, it was great, as well as "Ever After, Happily", which I love. Also, he performed a brand new, not yet performed/heard at all song, but he didn't give a title, all I know is that it has the word "rabies" in the chorus :] hehehe, so yeah, when that song comes out, just remember, I heard it first :P
It was all worth the crazy scary driving Chris performs every time he's in Boston, and I honestly only thought we were gonna crash and die once! YAY!!
Anyways...yeah. The end. Ever after happily ;] -

erased music history.
17 Jun 2008, 21:29 by quietblueroses
In light of the fact that I just added the last.fm software/program to my new computer, I decided to wipe my music history so that way I can actually have my charts reflect what I listen to. I was looking at my charts the other day and they just pissed me off, because when I listen to the last.fm radio, it's sort of random. I like the things I hear on the radios, it's just not a very accurate reflection of what I really listen to. So, I guess now I'm just starting over again, to see if the charts will look better.
Recently I've become obsessed with the musician, Frankmusik, especially with his song
Confusion Girl. It's rather funny. I also got Goldfrapp, The Ex-Boyfriends, some Jay Brannan, Jukebox the Ghost, The Mountain Goats and Someone Still Loves You Boris Yeltsin. I suppose I just got a rather big slug of graduation cash, and I wanted to spend it on something I knew I'd appreciate for a long time... hence the slough of music.

Das Shortbus-Phänomen
15 Mar 2008, 01:04 by Haenneball

Last.fm makes me frustrated
12 Mar 2008, 18:50 by Rariteetti
I love last.fm and the way it introduces me to new artists and bands I've never heard of. But I realised that it has also a down side: since I don't by music online, I now like music I can't buy here in Finland.
One of those artists, one that I found trough (if I remember correctly) Regina Spektor similar artists radio, is Jay Brannan. I don't know why I like hes music (especially the song
Soda Shop), I just do. Too bad his so indie...

Was man hier alles so machen kann..~
All That Could Have Been hm, da kommt kein Bildchen jetzt neben..~ sehr schade.
