This is an ode to the importance of a woman in a relationship and the fact that she is meant to be loved and treated with respect. This jam is one of the 2000’s popular love ballads which made Jaheim popular in the RnB world. This same theme was originally set in a couple of songs including The Mad Lads' similar ode of "Penance to a Forgotten Lady" and a source of Rick Ross' sample as well as the William Bell single, "I Forgot to Be Your Lover" from which this song is sampled in instrumentation and part of the lyrics.
