Göttingen, Germany (1994 – 2005)

Guano Apes was an alternative rock quartet from Germany. Their energic rock mix (mostly called as crossover) goin’ from rap over funky, from melodic singing to hardcore screaming of their leadsinger Sandra Nasic made them one of the most successful German rock bands ever.

Guano Apes were formed in 1994 in Göttingen, Germany, by guitarist Henning Rümenapp, bassist Stefan Ude and drummer Dennis Poschwatta. Croatian vocalist Sandra Nasic joined the band as lead singer later that year. They recorded 3 demo tapes, but their career really began in 1996 after winning the Local Hero contest for unsigned bands. They used the prize money for recording their 1st hit “

Open Your Eyes” and shot a video for that song. The song also became their first single and was followed by their debut album Proud Like a God in 1997. The next two albums, Don’t Give Me Names and Walking on a Thin Line, followed in 2000 and 2003. After the very long promo tour to the WOATL album, the band decided to take a rest for a while. One year later, in February of 2005, they announced a farewell tour and the end of Guano Apes.
- Drummer Dennis Poschwatta formed the crossover band Tamoto with his friend G-Ball and released the album Clemenza.
- Guitarist Henning Rümenapp works for Horus Studios in Germany.
- Singer Sandra Nasic released her solo album “The Signal” in 2007.
- Bassist Stefan Ude lives for and with his family.
- In 2006 Dennis, Henning and Stefan formed a new group with singer Charles Simmons, called Io
- IO realeased their studio album “For The Masses”in 2008

@ G_Point - i've heard totally opposite thing !!! Dennis (Apes' drummer) "became greedy and money was more important to him than the music". Sandra wanted to rest after 10 years of touring all over the world also she wanted to rest because she had some problems with her voice. But Dennis wanted to play, record and earn $$$. They've split. Sandra got rest and she was slowly making her solo, while Dennis played in his new band "Tamoto". This band was unsuccessful so he decided to form a band with old pals from GA (with a new singer). This band is called iO. By The Way - it's not that i'm a Sandra lover and Dennis hater... i would love to see GA back together again!
