Most of it that I've heard is just "atmospheric" quiet/ambient type passages followed by inevitable crescendos. If you know any other Post-Rock that sounds like this by all means please let me know ASAP.

A film I love and one of my favorite film scores. I can kind of hear some similarities.

I’m happy to say there’s plenty of post-rock that doesn’t fit that formula. :-D Check out Tortoise, 65daysofstatic, Do Make Say Think, early Broken Social Scene, Slint, and more.

Fantastic collection. The Black Tar Prophecies EPs are, to my ears, far and away the best things Grails has done to date. Their LPs are good (sometimes great) too, but these EPs (and 4, 5 & 6 as well) are diverse, hypnotic and unique; just a ton of different styles of music converging to form a stunning whole.

Bought this today based on loving Doomsdayer's Holiday. I need as much Grails as I can get as of today, I feel.

Maybe post-rock is just a catch-all term these days, but this does not strike me as such. The sound is just too eclectic. I hear definite jazz , prog, and folk influence

One of my favourite post-rock albums, altough it's not something I could listen to every day.
