“Friday 13th” is the fourth official single in the Gorillaz Song Machine series. The episode was first announced on June 7, 2020, with posts revealing that British rapper Octavian would be the featured artist on the episode. A day later, the band announced the song’s title and release date alongside a trailer for both the song and its accompanying music video. While “How Far?” featuring Skepta and Tony Allen came before this track, this is still the fourth episode in the series and the former was released as a tribute to the recently-passed Allen.
