The problem with the genre that is hardcore these days is that most people have not a fucking clue what it is. I have been to several different peoples profiles and they state that they love hardcore yet I look at there tags and the bands they have tagged hardcore are bands such as As I Lay Dying plus the rest of the library doesn't seem to have any hardcore in what so ever. Yes metalcore is a off shoot of hardcore but it is not to be described as hardcore and saying you love hardcore and having none in your library what so ever is retarded, people need to read up on shit.

it's been a long time since i've written one of these, and since, i've gotten waaaaay to much music. I'm gonna try and review everything i've gotten since mid-July if I can remember all of it. let's do this. PS: i realize my reviews suck sometimes, and i'm not just reviewing new stuff. deal with it. UPDATE: this doesn't include the 30+ records I ordered on my birthday. that's another blog entirely.

Blood Duster - Fisting The Dead/Str8outtanorthcote CD - apparently Relapse rereleased all of BD's output on 2 CD's. I had only heard their tracks on the Relapse comp Contaminated 3, which I thought were allright enough. At my school, this dude comes once a week and sells used CDs, and he both the Blood Duster CDs which I got for 5 bucks each, as well as 4 other albums. well anyway, I'm glad I spent only 10 bucks on these because, I really hate this shit. I'm so sick of this genre of death metal that teeters on the verge of being grind but never quite gets there. the fisting the dead album has 53 tracks on it, and drags on forever with standard death metal fare. Str8outtanorthcote, is a little better, the production is much cleaner at least. they also started adding blues scales into the mix. it reminds me of a less talented Soilent Green. There is 3 live covers at the end of the album though, and they cover Anal Cunt's "Radio Hit" which is awesome. that's all that's really worth listening to on here. I'll never listen to these albums again.

I Shit on Your Face/XXX Maniak - split 7": ISOYF is allright enough. pretty standard goregrind though. it's solid and sounds good, unlike most garbage goregrind out their, but it's totally forgettable. they really bring nothing to the table with this record. XXX Maniak are ever worse. boring as fuck goregrind. I really hate this kind of stuff, but the cover of this 7" is to ridiculous to not buy it. track it down and find out what it looks like for yourself.

Agathocles/J. Briglia, L. Butler, D. Schoonmaker, J. Williams (band with no name) - split 7": bit of self promotion with this one. this is my band's split with Agathocles. instead of a review here's the label description of it, considering it's pretty accurate (since I wrote it). Belgian mincecore legends meet upstate New York blackened powerviolence in order to shatter the nerves of the world's populous via audio shock. Agathocles' side is 6 tracks of their special blend of brutal mincecore that blast away at 1000 MPH while Jan spits lyrical venom; calling out fascism, capitalism and the horrors of piss poor grindcore. The flipside is the first vinyl release of J. Briglia, L. Butler, D. Schoonmaker, J. Williams (aka a band with no name). They offer 3 short, grainy blasts of powerviolence meets black metal while swells of harsh noise saturate the recording, tying all 3 tracks together. Limited to 400 copies.

Agathocles/Gorgonized Dorks - split 7": Agathocles deliver another blast of mincecore, that is pretty sick actually. normally i get Agathocles records to hear the other band and sit patiently through their side. this record however, fucking kills. they really sound aggressive this time around. . . maybe Jan was having a bad day. GD play sloppy lo fi punk grind. and by lofi i mean LOFI. but they get made out to be noisecore by everyone...on this record they sound like a punk band with a really really really bad recording. but you know the bad recording is intentional, like they are trying to be like the early Japanese noisy as fuck bands. they try, but don't play with the energy those bands do. the record is cool if you are into noisy punk, but it wasn't for me.

Xanopticon - Psicite 12": Totally intricate and fast breakcore. This record blew my mind. I've heard dev/null and i thought his record was great, i read that Xanopticon influenced him, so all i could get my hand on was this, and holy fuck, he takes a shit on dev/null. the intricacies of this record are mind blowing, yet you can still get into the beats. i love this. if anyone can sell me a copy of the full length CD (no downloads) i will love you forever.

Nachtmystium - Worldfall CDEP: From what is on here I guess that this was the stuff recorded for the split they were going to release with Leviathan. That must never be happening. oh well, at least we have this EP. Three sick tracks of their psychedelic black metal. trance inducing solos, crazy fast drums and allright vocals. They do a Death In June cover on here that is pretty sweet as well. definitely a satisfying EP.

New Found Glory - Tip Of The Iceberg EP: NFG definitely step it up a notch with this record. they've gone back to playing fast, i guess re-exploring the their roots, and the result is fantastic. 3 new tracks and 3 covers of (Shelter, Gorilla Biscuits, and Lifetime. What's even better that this is packaged with:

International Superheroes of Hardcore - Takin' It Ova! CD/LP: apparently it's just NFG with the guitarist singing and the singer guitaring. But it's crazy and fast like the chaotic and crazy fast days of old NYHC in the 80's. the songs are hilarious like "Madball's got our back" and 17 more tracks along those lines. definitely worth owning on CD and vinyl like i have.

Oren Ambarchi & z'ev - Spirit Transform Me CD: A massive combo. But not in a Sunn O))) sort of way. it''s hard to explain. apparently Oren recorded his stuff several years ago for this and Z'ev added his own flair to it (or its the other way around, I don't have the liner notes in front of me). I love this, and since it's my first exposure to Z'ev I will definitely be tracking down more of his releases. Totally slow moving ambient music that floats around as precussion wafts in and before you know it massive amounts of goodness envelope your aural receptors.

Death in June - Black Angel Live! CD: My second exposure to DIJ. The songs are better than Rule Of Thirds (which I purchased earlier this summer) but still feels kind of half-hearted. I need some older stuff by them/him to get my interest peaked. UPDATE: I've since bought Brown Book. scroll down to read more.

Prurient - History Of AIDS CD: Dominick Fernow's signature noisy blasts and tortured screams. some short glitchy bits in between tracks too. This record seems to be his most brutal stage before he started experimenting with melody. I say buy the fuck out of this. . .if you can track down a copy.

Trap Them - Sleepwell Deconstructor LP: heavy as fuck brutal hardcore...but not in a Bury Your Dead kind of way, but in a His Hero Is Gone kind of way, . It's to bad that so many metalcore cockbags like this band, because I can already imagine their shows being a mass of cockbag ninjas, and I don't think I would ever go to see them

Pest - s/t LP: fast German thrash/black metal with sick vocals and and killer riffs. the songs all blaze by fast and rule. not much more to say about them. sweet artwork too, the LP jacket is old Black Plague Europe engravings, and their logo is embossed into the cover.

Black Witchery - Upheaval Of Satanic Might LP: sick fast USBM the way it should be. totally inspired by the early bands like Bathory, Von, and Sarcófago...not Burzum. Not that I don't like bands that are inspired by Burzum, but I can only take so many boring ass, repetitive riffs that sound like they are recorded in a highschool gym, with tortured angsty vocals that can only be delivered by one man bands that still live in their parents basements. anyway, this sounds nothing like that, it sounds like the older brother of the basement black metal bands, ready to kick their little teen-angst ass.

Today Is the Day - s/t CD: after buying this, I now have all of TITD's full lengths. every one of them is good. this one is great, despite the retarded pictures on the inside that look like Steve Austin had his girlfriend take pics of the band after and during practice, like it was the first time the band met. this was their 3rd album! ugh. their isn't much bass on here, only to be replaced with keyboards. the album has an almost industrial metal feel to it, but not in lame goth/ndustrial/Hot Topic way, if that makes any sense. I enjoyed this. go get yourself a copy, along with the other reissues of their first two albums that came out recently.

Guilt - Bardstown Ugly Box CD: one of the lost gems of Victory Records past. I always enjoyed the song they had on the first 2 Victory Style comps for way back when, but I could never track down their stuff. One day searching thru the used bins at a shit record store (in the used section they were selling CD-Rs that had computer printed out covers and shit)on the boardwalk in Ocean City, NJ, I found this killer album. post-rock inspired hardcore, from right before the real screamo bands started up in the mid-90's. I love this shit. It makes you think, how the fuck did Victory Records sell-out so band, when in the 90's they put out some of the best and most creative hardcore ever! ugh I don't want to think about it. Fuck you Tony Victory.

OvertHHHrow/What Happens Next? - Livin' La Vida Loca split CD: in that same used section of the record store I mentioned in the Guilt review, I found this. holy fuck! another CD i've been searching for forever! i'm a big fan of HHH, and this shit is like HHH with more of a metal influenece and I personally think it kills HHH. What Happens Next? side is soem of their earlier stuff and it fucking rips also. best find ever!

Death in June & Boyd Rice - Alarm Agents CD: While trying to get my hands on an older DIJ record, I found someone on ebay selling this for cheap buy it now. being a fan of NON (another band who I can't get anything old by them for anything) I figured what would it hurt to get this. Pretty sweet, not to memorable, but a haunting romp down a gothic folk music trail. while it was a satifying listen, it left more to be desired, like earlier releases by both of the artists involved in this release.

Wolves in the Throne Room - Two Hunters 2xLP: To confess I haven't listened to the extra track or the extended version of the other track on here yet, but I have listened to the normal CD version of the album, and it is pretty killer. Though the songs this time seem to drag on a lot more than the Diadem of the 12 Stars album. that album flys by, probably because it's perfectly written. Two Hunters seems almost liek the just threw together parts of songs that sounded ok together and didn't really perfect them. i don't know. it's a good album, but not as good as the last one. buy that one first then get this later when you have extra cash lying around. or pirate it.

Air Conditioning - Weakness CD: holy fuck. this record is fucking incredible. as first it sounds like just static noise, and you get pissed that you wasted your money on it, then slowly out of the noise you can pick up what must be the heaviest fucking guitar distortion on the planet, and the the faintest hint of drums crashing away. by the time the second track is finished (like 20 minutes in) you have headbanged into oblivion. totally sick shit.

jason crumer - Ottoman Black CD: I was given this buy Dominick Fernow (of Prurient fame) after spending 70 bucks in his record store (Hospital Productions in Manhattan one of the best record stores I've ever been to), saying I would liek this based on the shit I bought. he was definitely right. noise that likes to build up, with super tense passages of quiet, or in one case the sounds of a person getting attacked. then blasts of cathartic noise, which is almost more soothing than the quiet parts. a great change of pace from normally walls of sonic violence that most noise is. defintely great to throw in some dynamics here and there.

mind flayer - Expedition To Hairier Peaks CD: if I was lazy, which I totally am, I would compare this to Lightning Bolt and be done with it. So that's what I'm going to do, this is like Lighting Bolt (whom Mindflayer share a drummer with) with much more focus on noise an feedback asopposed to killer bass throb. it has catchy groove parts like LB but, much less of them. still a sick record though.

Sissy Spacek - s/t CD: 70 something tracks, just over 20 minutes. every record ever should fit those criteria. cut up micro bits of grind, processed and noisieified beyond recognition. totally killer and challenging. i've always wanted to do stuff like this. fucking John Wiese, always being a step ahead of me.

Æthenor - Bedtimes Black Cloudmasses LP: another Stephen O'Malley joint. I don't know why I keep buying records solely on the fact that he plays on them. I mean they are pretty cool, strange bits of music, but really I get bored with them so easily or I never listen to them again. I'm going to go with the latter on this one. The music sounds like the soundtrack for a a suspenseful horror movie with SOMA jamming in the far off distance. pass on this one.

To Live And Shave In L.A. - Noon And Eternity CD: a noise band featuring Thurston Moore AND Andrew W.K. as well as a revolving door cast of like minded musicians??!! i'm sold without ever even hearing them. too bad this record is okay. it's not really noise, its more of a throbbing slow moving sloppy as fuck stoner rock band...with awful vocals. I mean I would listen to it again, but i wouldn't be happy about it.

Xasthur - Defective Epitaph CD: with every release Malefic seems to step up the production value just a smidge. I really enjoy Xasthur's music, but I have like 7 of his releases, and I'm starting to get bored of his style. This record has live drums on it however, and those tracks really take Xasthur to the next level. I liked this record though, it's worth getting especially if you've never heard Xasthur before, but Malefic is still an emo bitch.

Torche - Meanderthal LP: I got this monstrosity of a record when I saw them open for Boris. the packaging is so fucking annoying that it almost made me not want to buy it. it's like a gatfold cover that folds out to be 4 feet long with stupid looking characters playing around in smoke or something. fuck that. anyway. the music on here is killer. the riffs are catchier than the last album, and that's really all you need to know about them, considering riffs are the lifeblood of this band. still, fuck the cover. hard.

Boris - Flood CD: fuck paying import prices when you are buying shit directly from the band. this CD was 20 bucks at their show. 20?! who the fuck charges 20 bucks for a CD??!! of course i'm a completeist motherfucker so I had to buy it anyway. that being said, this record is pretty sweet, it's 1 long track that pours over you like a wave, a Flood if you will. that was lame sorry. what's really annoying however, is that the one song is split up into 4 tracks. I really hate that kind of shit. it makes listening to it really obnoxious for some reason.

Boris - Heavy Rocks CD: Flood was 20 USD. this was 24! what the fuck! maybe the extra 4 dollars paid for the extra amount of awesome that this disc is chock full of. this is definitely Boris's heaviest and most awesome record out of their impressive discography (not counting the amazing Rock Dream with Merzbow, because that's live). get this shit now!

Boris with Merzbow - Walrus/Groon 12" EP: Boris with Merzbow covering The Beatles?! again I needed to own this. one ebay auction and a few weeks later this arrived on my doorstep, waiting to be enjoyed. It's definetely a reat cover, but this track would have been perfect for Atsuo's signature WOOOOO's that he does way to fucking much when they play live. but for some reason he didn't on there. oh well. the B-side is a pretty sweet jam. yeah.

Stalaggh - s/t 7": definitely the most structured piece i've heard from these psychopaths. normally they are all freeform and crazy, this has percussion on it and it really adds to the atmosphere. though I think this was their first recording, and i figure they didn't feel evil enough having drums, so they got rid of them. so they went from being crazy black/doom to black/noise. or soemthing. oh yeah i forgot to mention the vocalist is a mental patient, and they have him scream his head off for vocals. pretty evil.

Burning Star Core - Body Blues 7": 2 way to short tracks on here. this is my first time hearing BSC and it won't be my last. think Mogwai style build ups and releases, but done with noise. incredible.

Order From Chaos - And Ending Fire: I finally found a copy of this, thankfully, because i dragged my heels on ordering it from NWN. this is repressing of EP's of this band, whose members went on to form Angel Corpse and then Revenge, to of the sickest black metal bands to ever exist. this however is sweet death/black metal that can't really decide what genre it is. with thick production values and killer fucking riffs. totally fucking awesome. I just need to track down their other NWN record, which I believe is a full-length.

Corrupted - Nadie LP: this is a re-release of an earlier CD put to vinyl for the first time. killer sludge metal. I think Corrupted is definitely the go-to band if you want to be a sludge band. they have the style perfected. I don't get why all their lyrics are in Spanish and they are Japanese though. whatevs. 3 killer songs. go get this.

Annihilation Time - Cosmic Unconsciousness 7": AN are one of those bands that should break up. They have a string of killer releases, then put out a good album and a few EPs that are ok, but you know soon they will be releasing garbage, and should break up before they taint their good name even further. this EP is allright. I have a feeling I won't be buying their next record.

Cursed - Blackout At Sunrise 7": maybe I haven't heard enough of these guys, but I really don't get the hype. they are just another heavy fast hardcore band. they aren;t bad, but they aren't AMAZING like most people have made them out to be. eh, I dont know, I must just be jaded an old. seriously though, some of the dudes in this band were in Ire and The Black Hand. check those fucking bands out if you want to be blown away.

Extermination - Pact 7": another Black..i mean war metal 7". it's got all the requirements. killer fast riffs, anti-christian imagery, sick vocals, unreal how fast they are drums. sick shit. If you don't buy this for anything else, you need to see the outfits the dudes in the band are wearing on the insert. like fucking full body suits of 15 inch spikes. fucking ridiculous.

Fucked Up - Year of The Pig 7": i already have the 12" version of this song, but I guess this is an edited or single version of the track. the record even comes with a little tabe you would put into a jukebox. hat pretty sweet, it's little things like that that keep me buying records. anyway, the music is old school hardcore punk, with fucked up's unique twist on things, like clean female vocals and chorus's. awesome little record.

His Hero Is Gone - The Dead Of Night In Eight Movements 7": i've dragged my heels on buying this for years. I always saw it and skipped over it thinking that it will never be better than Monument to thieves. boy was I ever right aboout that. it's sweet crusty hardcore, but it's laking the genus se qua of their later records. it still blows half the shit coming out nowadays out of the water, especially crusty hardcore bands that try and emulate these guys. anyway, mine was on clear, and i'm totally gay for colored vinyl.

Ignivomous - Eroded Void Of Salvation 7": normally i jerk it to anything Nuclear War Now puts out, but this record sucks. well it doesn't suck, it just is subpar for NWN. it's pretty standard death metal and that's it, and honestly I fucking hate that style more than anything. i've heard it so many times. if you are going to play death metal, you need catchy riffs of else you are going to just join the other shitty bands out their. the riffs on this 7" are boring and forgettable. the vocals are the same guttural howls you've heard all before. eh. pass on this one.

Off With Their Heads - From The Bottom CD: sweet ass punk rock from these dudes. they play in a total 77 style, with gruff vocals, which if they weren't there i would never listen to this again, but the vocals are so cool that they win me over with them. I swore this band was british but apparently they are from Minneapolis. awesome album. go buy this if you like catchy punk rock.

Minus the Bear - They Make Beer Commercials Like This LP: I really liked Menos El Oso by these guys, so I figured I would try out another one of their albums. this came out on sweet pink/gray swirled marble. to bad the music isn't as interesting as the vinyl color. I mena it has the same nice melodies and awesome guitar work as their other stuff, but it's all to stagnant on this record. i found myself trailing off during it and doing other things. eh.

John Coltrane - Soultrane CD: i'm not going to say anything that hasn't been said about this amazing saxophone player and this album, so i'm not going to try. also look for my similarly shitty review for the Miles Davis record down further on the list!

Meat Puppets - II CD: I always sit on buying more mainstream or popular albums to go for a more obscure release first. I should have bought this as soon as I heard who the Meat Puppets were. this album is incredible, and their influence on Nirvana is obvious. man I could kick my ass for not hearing this sooner. hardcore punk mixed with country and folk influences. incredible.

Parliament - The Best Of Parliament: Give Up The Funk CD: i'm not good at writing reviews about music I don't know a lot about. all I know is the grooves made on this record are so fucking good and heavy and I couldn't stop dancing in my chair while listening to these songs. that must stand for something.

Miles Davis - The Birth Of The Cool CD: Miles Davis's first album. pretty good.

GridLink - Amber Gray CD: the new incarnation of Discordance Axis. the shit is killer and fast grindcore. I love the sticker on the cover taking a jab at metalcore. It summed up my feelings on how metal should be played perfectly. this record delivers in every way.

Battletorn - Terminal Dawn CD: i bought this expecting killer fast thrash, but got fast hardcore instead. it's pretty sweet, and only cost 5 bucks. you can't go wrong with that!

Death in June - Brown Book CD: I finally got an older DIJ album! for only 15 bucks too! anyway, after getting this, I finally realize what all the hype is about with them. it's excellent, like how their new stuff has acoustic guitars and great haunting vocals, but with military like drums plodding away. i love it. I need more old stuff by them!

Jesu - s/t CD: I have two other Jesu records, and I never really got why their was so much hype about them. i mean it was pretty sweet shoegaze stuff, excellent actually, but for some reason the hype still didn't match the music. then I finally got this album and it all came together. like this is the heaviest dreamiest music ever. I love it. and that's all i have to say about it.

Notorious B.I.G. - Ready To Die CD: this album was number 1 on my list of records to buy for just about 4 or 5 years now, but i refused to buy it new for like 2 bucks or whatever they charged for it. I found a used copy and it totally made my day. anyway...you've heard this already, and you love it. so i'll not bore you with a shitty review, other than saying it's pretty awesome.

Skin Chamber - Trial CD: i used to have this album a long time ago, but I got rid of it because I didn't like it. one day searching through a used CD bin I found it for 4 bucks, and I figured I would rebuy it. pretty sweet industrial metal, with a 25 minute noise track at the end. pretty sweet, and definitely better than when I was younger.

Wire - Chairs Missing CD: i don't feel like writing reviews anymore. punk. but catchier and more experimental. bye.

Lee "Scratch" Perry - Ape-Ology 2xCD: i can dig on reggae once an a while. in short album sized doses. like 45 minutes at a time. I stumbled on this 2 CD set for 10 bucks, a price that can't be beat. I them made the only fortunate mistake of listen to it straight through. this set has both the albums Super-Ape and Return Of The Super Ape on it, plus bonus tracks from singles and whatnot thrown in between the albums, for an almost 3 hour listening experience. i started listening to the first CD, and was DAMN this shit is awesome! but by the end of the second disc I was worn out. I don't know how anyone can deal with that much reggae. i need to listen to the albums separately to get the full effect of them, because they are really really really good, I just don't have the tolerance to enjoy them together.

Elffor - Son Of Shades CD: I thought this was gonna be the sickest slab of black metal ever released. well not really, but i at least thought it was going to be black metal. it had an indecipherable logo, its a one man band, they used the impossible to read Revenge style old english font in the booklet. it had everything going for it. then i heard the 5 minute synth only "Intro". then the 2nd track, which with guitars didn't come in until maybe 3 minutes into the song. this is my most hated for of any stupid metal sub-genre. gothic doom metal. boring tortuous garbage, that surprises me that anyone actually listens to it, and record labels put money up to pay for pressing, distribution, and promotion of the album. balls.

Runemagick - Voyage Of Desolation/Dawn Of The End CD: from the scary imagery to the font used for the logo, I thought this would be a black metal band. they turned out to be a doom/death metal band. not particularly band...but not particularly good either. pretty boring actually, but it wasn't hard to listen to, i don't know.

Unearthly Trance - Electrocution CD: I have one of their earlier albums, and honestly I never listen to it, but from what I remember it was pretty sweet sludge kinda metal, with a doomier feel, with sccreamed vocals. on this album their is more of a sludge emphasis, almost getting into slow crusty hardcore kinda stuff. and the vocals changed too. they are those kind of gruff kinda singing, kind of shouting vocals. not particularly unique, but not horrible, definitely a good change from the screaming. good record though, i'll be listening to more of these guys after this.

Vverwolf Grehv - Zombie Aesthetics CD: lame. I got really pumped about this before it came out and really, it's boring as fuck. it's one of the guys from The Faint trying to go the Genghis Tron route. and fails miserable at it. GT has memorable songs. this shit doesn't bleh. i'm glad I bought this for 5 bucks from some guy who sells promo copies of CDs at my school.

Body Count -s/t CD: Imagine finding this used at FYE: an original banned version of this album complete with the track that caused to many problems, Cop KIller! that's right, I found this at FYE for like 10 bucks used! hell yeah. the album pretty much sucks ass, except for a few standout tracks. Cop Killer is such a good song that it makes the purchase worth it.

M.I.A. - Kala CD: this is the kind of music that gets played during a sci-fi movie from the mid-90's that is set in the future which has a scene with music from the time period. i like it. I don't know a lot about this style of hip-hop, but the rhythmical vocals style and the beat she uses are great. for some reason writing this blurb makes me want arby's.

Crisis - Holocaust Hymns CD: to further my newfound obsession with Death In June, i figured I would investigate Douglas P.'s old band: Crisis. sweet ass old school punk jams from the original period in punk rock. I honestly think the track "Holocaust" has to be one of the best punk songs ever written. I think this CD has everything they ever recorded on it, and for the most part every track is a gem, sans one or two weak points. otherwise a very satisfying record. you should own this.

Suffering bastard - s/t CD: this is one of those EPs that you wish was longer. 6 fast ass dual bass style grindcore songs that are over in about 4 and a half minutes. but wait! there is a bonus track! which is over an hour of a ground loop. that does nothing and goes nowhere. dammit, i listened to the whole fucking track expecting something, but got nothing except the ultimate case of blueballs.

Suffering bastard/Cock E.S.P. - split 10": an awesome split between two sick bands. SB kill everything with their dual bass grindcore and offer something like 12 short ass songs. so fucking sick. CESP give us a bunch of short noise blasts that are over to quickly. i love this record. I can't wait to see both these bands with Twodeadsluts Onegoodfuck and The White mice at the Freenoise Fest in October. gonna be nuts.

Emil Beaulieau - America's Greatest Noise 2xLP: I fucking love Emil Beaulieau. and this double LP solidified that fact. the first LP is 2 sides of locked groove goodness with enough blasts of feedback to make me happy. the second Lp is all locked grooves, and needle destroying stuff. it's my first experience with an anti-record, and its pretty cool. I could see making hip-hop beats with some of the locked grooves, they are pretty catchy. i dunno.

Regurgitate/Gore Beyond Necropsy - split 7": two of my favorite bands put out this split, and I of course didn't know about it when it happened. and of course I get it off of ebay for 30 fucking dollars. definitely worth it though, sick goregrind from Regurgitate and GBN provide about 10 tracks of their signature "anal drilling harshitcore" i fucking love it. on red vinyl too!

Vehemence - God Was Created CD: BOOOORRRINNNNNGGG! i had heard this years ago when it came out, and thought it was pretty sweet, so i put it on my list of stuff to buy but never could find this album. I finally found a used copy of it for 5 bucks. so i snatched it up. i want my 5 dollars back. boring as fuck death metal, with some songs in the 7+ minutes range. this CD was torturous to listen to, but not in a good way like Sutcliffe Jügend or something. this was crap. fuck this band in the ass.

Knife Thru Head/Slapendehonden - split 7": generic grind from both bands. boring as hell. i now have a new coaster. sweet cover art though...at least on the Knife Thru Head side.

H2O - Nothing To Prove LP: the first track on this album is awesome and fast and catchy as fuck. i got really excited while listening to it. then the next track slowed down a bit, as did my excitement level. by the 4th song I was completely bored as the band got into the mid-paced generic pop punk realm. god, i had heard such good things about this too. word to the wise...never believe the hype about anything ever.

Wendy Carlos - Switched On Bach II LP: The worlds favorite transgendered musician before he became a she. this record fromthe early 70's is a quite enjoyable romp through old Bach pieces played on Moog synths. incredible. really not much more to say about it. i'm getting really fucking tired of writing these reviews however.

Blashphemophager - Atomic Infested Carnage 10": i love 10 inches. I don't know why. I especially love 10 inches that as killer as this. sick war style black metal, that worships the gods like Beherit, sarcofago, etc. in fact they cover a song by both those bands on here! and they are sick! if you don't own this record you are a poser. i'm super soked for their new full-length that just came out.

Midnight - Complete and Total Fucking Midnight 2xLP: two long players of crazed Motörhead/Venom/Exciter worship with sick hardcore like screams. honestly I could have only had one LP worth and it would have been okay, by the end of the record it was a chore to listen to. Midnight definitely know how to bring the riffs though, so they have that going for them. The package does look sweet though, lots of pics of drunken chick and dudes in black hoods.

Vanilla Fudge - s/t LP: old 60' Psychedelia. all the songs on here are covers, but Vanilla Fudge cover them in their own unique, drugged out heavy style. this record is great. i'm sure most people have heard his before, but I just got it so there. I want to make music like this now.

Tonight's best new track was 'The Beast Is Us' by Braintax. This track sums up why I love hip hop so much more than any rock, indie or other song-form music. It's so powerful, it's the perfect meld of brain and body. The lyrics are ferocious, intelligent and funny and the beat is undeniable. How can you go wrong with shit like this? :
