“I Lied” is an electronic love ballad, where the girls admit that they have told other guys in past relationships that they “love” them, but they now realize that it wasn’t true love because today they have finally found someone that they can wholeheartedly say they love. The song also references the Mary J. Blige song, “Real Love.” Writer JHart stated that he began writing this track with The Monsters & Strangerz. Then, the song was brought to the girls and they helped finish the song. So, although they were not credited, they’ve taken part in the writing process.
