Not their last good album certainly, all of the albums after have got some awesome songs, but this has been their best album since its release for sure. Distance Over Time stands second best among the subsequent ones.

Time puts everything in perspective. It took fourteen years to realize how good this album is.

A fantastic album, one of their best. I don't agree with the comments below that suggest that this is their last good album, I find each one of them enjoyable for different reasons, but they definitely haven't matched this one for quality since.

Their last good album, although octavarium was pretty boring and systematic chaos was crap. Anything after BC&SL was boring especially the astonishing.

This album shows exactly why DT was so much more popular than any other prog band. Because despite brilliant and sometimes kinda 'not cool' guitar, keyboard and vocals there was always Portnoy with his floppiness, rawness and brutality who made it more human and listenable. Now with Mangini it is an artificial music with no claw.

Probably my favorite DT album since Train of Thought. Really cohesive with of course excellent musicianship, but songs that maintain a captivating drive. IMO, the last DT album to really 'click'. Portnoy & Petrucci were a magical team that cannot be replicated.

Their best album, it seems like Portnoy wanted to leave his legacy with DT, this is it

"gay" and "faggot" are actually insults, lol. Because being a gay or a fag is filthy.

I hate those homophobes who infest metal fanbases and think "gay" and "faggot" are insults. Hurry up and march into the ash heap of history where you belong already.

The Shattered Fortress drives me nostalgic, because I kind of relate to each DT album involved in the AA saga. Not because I'm alcoholic, but because what each particular album means to me. At all, it isn't a copy paste incident, but rather, a way to remember us that life always goes in circular motion... "The Story ends where it Begins"... This is a fantastic Album...
