It would be hard to imagine Burt Bacharach and Hal David having songwriting careers without the voice of Dionne Warwick, and while this collection is aptly named for their talents as songwriters – it is Dionne's voice most associated with ther most successful output. Sure there have been others who have recorded their ditties – Tom Jones, Cilla Black, Dusty Springfield, Sonny and Cher and so, so many others, but Dionne was their muse – an unequalled match that sounded heavenly and strong. The lyrics for "Alfie" and "A House is Not a Home" – pure poetry. And the melody for "The Look of Love", how can it ever be matched again –EVER?? Pop music will never be the same!
