Diane Dufresne was born in a working class suburb of Montreal on September 30th 1944. Her mother died when she was 12 years old and she left school to take care of her brother and sister. Early on she had developed a taste for dressing up and performing, and a few years later a job as a nurse allowed her to pay for singing lessons.
