The first hint of “The Highs & The Lows“ between Chance and Joey came in March 2022 when they were spotted hanging out in Venice, Italy. They were going around the canals in a motorboat and shooting a video. The footage of this trip was used at the end of Chance’s self-directed video for his single “A Bar About a Bar“ as a teaser. The rappers debuted the song — which deals with the stresses of domesticity and navigating difficult emotions — at Art Basel in Switzerland in July, 2022, accompanied by a short film produced in France and Italy produced by Yannis Davy Guibinga.
“The Highs & the Lows” marks the duo’s second official collaboration, following Joey’s February 2013 single “Wendy N Becky”.
