One of my favorite Reggae/Roots Reggae albums and along with Catch a Fire one of the two Marley/BMW/Wailers albums I recommend for people looking to get into the genre. It doesn't get much better than this.

Burnin' is the other studio album I consider to be absolutely essential and one new listeners should purchase ASAP, too. Then there's Live! which is one of the best albums/live albums of any genre. It's a shame so many people just pick up Exodus or Legend and leave it at that. Both are fine but really represent a much lighter and poppier form of Reggae than that which made Bob Marley (and the Wailers) legendary.

I totally overlooked this over Catch a Fire and Burnin the first time around..now I am enjoying it more. So Jah Seh has always been one of my favorite Marley songs.

Exodus might be the height of reggae, but this is the height of roots. Love the brooding beneath it all.
