Rock Around the Clock is a 12-bars blues format song written by Max C. Freedman and James E. Myers (who went under the pseudonym "Jimmy De Knight"). The song was recorded on April 12, 1953 at Pythian Temple studios in New York City. It was released through Decca Records on May 20, 1954 in NYC and released again in May 1955. The song was originally titled "We're Gonna Rock Around the Clock Tonight!" and was later shortened to "(We're Gonna) Rock Around the Clock". However, most recordings have it as "Rock Around the Clock".
