"Wishin' and Hopin'" is a song written by American songwriters Hal David and Burt Bacharach that was first recorded by American singer Dionne Warwick in the fall of 1962 (and released as the B-side of Warwick's 1962 single "This Empty Place") and subsequently a US Top 10 hit for British singer Dusty Springfield in 1964. The version by Ani DiFranco, recorded in 1995 and released in November 1995, was featured over the opening credits of the film, "My Best Friend's Wedding", and included on the US double platinum-selling soundtrack album.
