The First Time Ever I Heard Your Voice...
15 Nov 2007, 22:15 by momosupermo
Can you remember the first time you heard the artists in your top twenty...?
1 Akiko Yano
First heard Akiko on Thomas Dolby's
She Blinded Me With Science in 1983.
2 Ofra Haza
Singing
Galbi and
Im Nin Alu on a video on UK tv programme, The Tube, circa 1985, although I may have seen her at Eurovision in 1983.
3 Sezen Aksu
First heard Sezen in a Chinese restaurant in Marmaris, Turkey, in 2006, although I was aware of her before that. Not sure what song it ws.
4 Joni Mitchell
First heard Joni on an Old Grey Whistle Test Christmas special in 1982 or 1983. She sang
Chinese Cafe/Unchained Melody.
5 David Bowie
Difficult - it was probably something like
Starman on one of those children's programmes like Marc in the 70s, or maybe Top of the Pops
5 Sertab Erener
First heard Sertab just prior to Eurovision 2003, representing Turkey with
Every Way That I Can
7 Ajda Pekkan
Another Turkish Eurovision entry, this time it was Petroil in 1980
8 The Beatles
The Beatles have always been there, on the radio and on tv. It was probably something like She Loves You when I was 4 or 5.
9 Depeche Mode
I won a bunch of 7" singles from a radio station in 1981 including
Dreaming of Me which I played to death.
10 Dana International
Another Eurovision favourite, Israel's entry in 1998 with
Diva.
11 Everything but the Girl
First heard the whole of the Eden album, over and over again, at a party in Carnoustie in 1984.
12 Morrissey
First saw and heard The Smiths on Top of the Pops doing This Charming Man in 1984. First solo Morrissey was
Suedehead in 1988.
13 Cocteau Twins
I first saw Liz and Co doing This Mortal Coil's Song to the Siren on UK tv show "Loose Talk" in 1983.
14 David Sylvian
From the 7" singles I mentioned at no 9, came Japan's
Life in Tokyo, a 1981 re-release of the 1979 classic electro stomp. First Sylvian solo was the video for
Red Guitar on Top of the Pops in 1984
15 Talking Heads
Video for
Once in a Lifetime on an unknown tv show in 1980.
16 Billy Bragg
Billy was a Tube regular so the first I heard must have been something from Life's A Riot With Spy vs Spy on The Tube circa 1984
17 Yellow Magic Orchestra
I was aware of them a while before I first heard them which was in 1982 on a LP free with the music paper, Sounds, of Japanese Technopop artists entitled Band's Eye View. Technopolis was the track.
18 Chaka Khan
Probably
Ain't Nobody off the Breakdance: The Movie soundtrack in 1984.
19 Yikkity
Ahem, my own band, we first recorded under this name in 2006,
Humourless
20 The Pretenders
I, like most people first heard Chrissie and co when Brass in Pocket went to No 1 in 1979. -
Kocası bile olsa ruj ister mi?
9 Nov 2007, 00:25 by gesamkunstwerk
Şenay Düdek - Sizin starınız kim? Geçmişte ve günümüzde?..
Yıldırım Mayruk - Geçmişteki starlarım Behiye Aksoy, Gönül Yazar, Gönül Akkor, Müzeyyen Senar, Hamiyet Yüceses, Perihan Altındağ Sözeri, Ajda Pekkan. Onların her şeyi başkaydı.

the EŞEK, the HOŞAF & The DAMON "20 feet away" ALBARN

Sat 11 Aug – The Good, The Bad & The Queen, Mor ve Ötesi, dandadadan, fungu
"sorry... i am sorry... but i have to tell you something..." Damon Albarn 11\08\2007 parkorman - istanbul
konser oncesi bekleyisim tipki Perşembe 13 Temmuz 2006 mekân Cemil Topuzlu Harbiye Açıkhava Tiyatrosu konserindeki gibiydi, yani itis kakis olmadan o pis festival havasina bulanmadan rahatca damon abimi izliyecegimi bildigim icin keyfim yerindeydi, iyiki Paul Weller gibi bir rock efsanesi turkiyede az taniniyordu ve iyiki The Good, The Bad & The Queen e bayik (!?) bir konser olucak gozuyle bakiyordu millet
halkimizin bu ilgisizligi ve bilgisizli belli bir sureye kadar beni rahatsiz ederken artik keyfini surmek zevkine vardim, Badly Drawn Boy un neden Teoman in altinda sahne alcak? teoman da kimmis? demektense, iyiki erken sahne alicak, rahatca izlicem Damon Gough u diyorum artik [adas olmalari da ayri bi tevafuk]
oncesi buydu, konser gunu ise ongruplar ve organizasyona olan guvensizligim nedenli [alt gruplarin bikac sarkisini dinlemistim] 930 civari indim havuz basina ve tabiki 90dk suren bi sikilma ve gezme evresi, Mor ve Ötesi nin vasat perfonmasına arada bi göy atıp ardindan 11de gelen arkadaslarima imrenmeler vardi.
uzaktan Damon Albarn denen simariklik ve sirinlik abidesinin piyanosunu gorunce hadi dedim sahne onune gecme zamani, damon sahneye oyle bir cikti ki "ben biliyorum ne oldgumu, hatta 11 yasindan beri" tavriyla beni tokatladi, boyle bi ozguven, boyle bi tavir, boyle bi artistlik.... [neyse tekrar dikkatim dagildi hatirlayinca o ani yaziya donmeliyim]
Green Fields e geldigimizde kendimi biraz toparladim favorim sarkim kendime getirdi beni. Uzun zamandir boyle basarili bi atmosfer hatirlamiyorum bi konserde, muzikal-konser arasi bi yere koydum zaten konserden cok
Eslam Jawaad cubbesi ve takkesiyle sahneye cikmasa ben hala bulutlarn ustunde gezinme modundan cikamicaktim heralde =] ortadoguda olanlara tepkisinin laftan ibaret olmadgini herzaman ortaya koyan damon i bir kere daha takdir ettim
blur un herhangi bir live DVD sine sahip olamama sebepli Graham Coxon olsa nasil olurdu acep? diyorsaniz simon dan pek farkli olmayacani soyliyim, zaten blur u blur yapan damon di herzaman digerleri ekmek parasi icin calan muzisyenler olmaktan oteye gecemediler ve de dun gece blur le gelmedigi icin son derece hamd & sena durumlarindaydim
Song 2 ve
Coffee and TV icin gelicek kuru kalabaliktan uzak nezih bir geceydi, allah herkese boyle nefis konserler nasib etsin
konser sonrasi ise ty de romeo yu romio seklinde telaffuz eden sarkilar esligindeydik [damon abimizin affina siginarak tabi] gerci icerisi her cts oldugu gibi stinks vaziyetinde oldgundan bar i polis basmis izlenimi veren bar önü kalabaligi icindeydk uzun sure... -

25 The Pretenders
What was the first song you ever heard by 6? (Sezen Aksu)
I first heard Sezen in a restaurant in Turkey and asked the waiter who was singing. The first Sezen mp3 I heard was
Bahane
What is your favorite album by 2? (Ofra Haza)
Ofra Haza. I used to like Shaday, but this '97 album blew me away.
What is your favorite lyric that 1 has sung? (Akiko Yano)
This is difficult as I don't speak Japanese! I'm sure she has probably written several classic lyrics, but I couldn't recite any of them here!
How many times have you seen 11 live? (Morrissey)
Not sure exactly, but over the past few years, probably around eight times in various venues including Perth Concert Hall, the SECC and Dundee Caird Hall
What is your favorite song by 7? (Ajda Pekkan)
Petrol. It was the first Ajda track I heard, but I like the version on the Diva album best
What is a good memory you have involving 20? (Chaka Khan)
I remember seeing her live on tv in the 80s, round about the time "I Feel For You" went to number one, and not only did she have a superb voice, she had a fantastic pair of thighs on her!
Is there a song by 3 that makes you sad? (Sertab Erener)
My favourite sad song of all time, narrowly beating
The Winner Takes It All, is
Soz Bitti. Sertab always sounds so emotive and almost gothic when she sings ballads.
What is your favorite lyric that 14 has sung? (Billy Bragg)
"How can you lie back and think of England when you don't even know who's in the team?" Greetings to the New Brunette
What is your favourite song by 19? (Penguin Cafe Orchestra)
Isle of View. Mellow!
How did you first get into 22? (Ryuichi Sakamoto)
Heard his work with Japan on
Taking Islands in Africa and got hold of alll the Yellow Magic Orchestra albums I could find. A personal view is that I wish he'd stop all the soundtracks and get back to making pop songs again, but I suppose it pays his rent...
What was the first song you heard by 21? (Japan)
Life in Tokyo. I won a whole bunch of 7" singles on local radio and this was one of them. Played it to death!
What is your favorite song by 4? (Joni Mitchell)
Very difficult, but I would probably plump for
Coyote. I love all of Hejira.
What is a good memory you have involving 13? (Dana International)
Dana winning Eurovision and tripping as she collects the prize!
Is there a song by 23 that makes you sad? (Abba)
Amazing, all time sad track number two -
The Winner Takes It All. I cried so many tears in adolescence to this song.
What is your favorite album of 15? (David Sylvian)
Brilliant Trees. All of his solo albums are brilliant, but this one saw me through a very distressing time in my life and I pay tribute to its greatness.
What is your favorite lyric that 9 has sung? (The Beatles)
Jeez! Could this one have been any more difficult? "Turn off your mind, relax and float down stream", Tomorrow Never Knows
What is your favorite song by 8? (Depeche Mode)
It Doesn't Matter - beautiful
How many times have you seen 5 live? (David Bowie)
None. His shows are too expensive!
What is your favorite album by 12? (Everything But The Girl)
Idlewild. Tracy and Ben were unstoppable in those days - fantastic live as well.
What is a good memory you have involving 25? (The Pretenders)
I remember being in maths when I heard that Brass in Pocket went to number one and was delighted because it wasn't your usual commercial rubbish.
What was the first song you heard by 18? (Yellow Magic Orchestra)
I got Technopolis on a free Sounds lp called Band's Eye View and this track was by far my favourite
What is your favorite song by 17? (No-Man)
Probably Sweetheart Raw, not least because it features three quarters of Japan.
What is your favorite album by 24? (Duran Duran)
Rio - slick production, quality songs, they never bettered it.
How many of your top 25 have you seen live?
Only 3 I'm afraid
