Isn't it almost an faux pas to try and distance pop punk away from bands such as Blink 182/ Green Day/ New Found Glory? i think pop-punk is one of the most open minded, fun, free spirited, rallying, least exclusive/ elitist genres out at the moment. where you can break out and go nuts, regardless of age. and saying such things is detrimental to its cause. Yes the Ramones and Decendents did come around first etc etc...but Blink and Green Day truly elevated it to another level and took it far. Looking at the state of the genre now people might say they took it too far. But theyl always remember the glory days. as for NFG/MCS etc .these are the bands flying the flag for pop punk as we know it today. i also think they are the LAST true bands left. since 2003 it has been watered down tremendously as more of the majors took interest. so much so that in 2008 artists such as Miley Cyrus and Jonas Brothers are being considered "pop-punk". Those are the acts u should rag on. Phew!!!

"Do you want to distance yourself from Blink 182 and New Found Glory..." I love pop punk, but Blink 182 and NFG were gods in their time. Sure, NFG blows now but Nothing Gold Can Stay and Cheshire Cat/Dude Ranch are amazing pop punk albums. That being said, I love this group. :D

blink 182's dude ranch is a pretty good album. such as green day's dookie is. just because they "sold out" doesn't means that those great albums are suddendly shit. those are great pop albums, with punk overtones. if you wish. whatever. i just think that "dude ranch" is closer to the queers than fall out boy does. and i'm not a poser, just in case.-

This is a very necessary group. Good job. Bands like Green Day and Blink-182 are simply pop, not pop punk. I hate that misconception.
