I forgot to comment on my experience in F.I.B. 2008. MBV was spectacular, never thought that something was so incredible, genius!

Dear ride fans! It is a proven fact that ride is the greatest band in music history. None can seriously doubt that. Anyways I would like ask you to link the legendary "Field Mice" to this forum. I mean this is called Mouse Trap! It is only logical. http://www.lastfm.de/music/The+Field+Mice

Latest Ride listening stats. Amount of Ride listeners increased by 1% last week (as proportion of Radiohead listeners). There are now 5.303 Ride listeners for every 100 Radiohead listeners. There was also a 2.42% increase in the amount of Ride songs played last week (as proportion of Radiohead songs played). 0.972 Ride songs are played for every 100 Radiohead songs played. Since 20 April, there has been a 7.761% increase in Ride songs played (again, as a proportion of Radiohead songs, not in terms of actual numbers, which is actually a 6.42% increase - Radiohead songs are obviously being played on Last.fm less now than in April). http://www.last.fm/group/The+Mouse+Trap+-+Ride+fans/forum/88695/_/402781

Yeah, I know, it's not like I don't understand him. If someone asked me what I'd rather do... (Plus I guess it feels really nice, too, sometimes. Standing there without moving a bit playing plong plong lame basslines and still you get people chanting your name.) And on the "cushy enviorment" I think Andy put it best when he said it's like living in a comic and you re always waiting for Goofy to appear. Although that's a weird comparism I totally know what he means. Its from the booklet of this: http://www.amazon.com/Feedback-Future-Various/dp/B0000C6IV1/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=music&qid=1211617874&sr=8-1 I know the interview was printed somewhere else to but I forgot where. Lovely compilation anyhow but I enjoyed the booklet even more.

"doing what they thought they had to do was already really destructive in the ol days." That's actually quite a true statement. Anyone who enjoys 15 minutes of fame can often get worried about trying to find out how to reproduce their success without realising that they have achieved this by being themselves. In terms of practicality I would assume that the main reason why Ride isn't back together is simply Andy's commitment to Oasis. By remaining with Oasis, Andy is "playing it safe" since it is obvious that he has the job of his life and one that he can look back on with a measure of satisfaction. I'm the same age as the guys in Ride and if I was in Andy's position I would find it difficult to leave such a cushy environment (though working with Noel and Liam may not exactly be cushy!)

Yeah, but you remember some of the live stuff of Mark where he says stuff about performing with Andy which really didnt sound like he was against it at all. I know which interview you mean, I think. But it was more along the lines of "I dont think its gonna happen". Ive read another interview where he says something like he wouldnt mind but it would unlikely. And of course, I don't want Ride to sound like they did when they were 20 year old. I dont. I just think there's some kind of "magic" to use that cheesy expression that they can only create together and Im not making stuff like that up. I enjoy loads and loads of kinds of music and I'm sure theirs would be GOOD, maybe not al of the old fans would like it, so what? That's not why they should do it, to give us Nowhere 2 or something. That mindset, doing what they thought they had to do was already really destructive in the ol days.

When they were asked by fans about getting back together more permanently back in 2001, the idea was pretty much nixed by Mark and Andy. Loz and Steve, however, did not seem too opposed to it. The problem seems to be the realisation that reproducing the "magic" of the original Ride journey will be impossible. My personal feeling is that this is true, but CUFA proved that they are still capable of creating some great post-breakup music if they really try. If a "Ride part 2" took place, the band would have to create a different sort of "magic" that they would be happy with.

I am a Oasis fan but everytime I listen to Dont believe the Truth and Keep the Dream Alive and Turn Up The Sun comes up my heart just aches. Seriously. I love love love these songs but it just makes me think what he could still be doing with Ride! This and Mark's solo album is so great, too. And whats with Loz doing Music at Oxford. I mean, not that I mind that, all I mean is they would all be soooooo much better off just getting back together. Or so I believed. And just because Andy says he wont... I mean, Richard Ashcroft said they would NEVER reform, either and then *suddenly*, 10 years after their split they did. Let's face it. Oasis do not need Andy. They just dont. Noone gives a rat's ass about the BASS of Oasis.
